  1. What is the NUS Volunteer Network?

The NUS Volunteer Network (NVN) is a grouping of student-led community service related clubs in NUS. Currently, it comprises 4 member groups – the NUS Students’ Community Service Club (CSC), the NUS Students’ Union Volunteer Action Committee (NVAC), the NUS Rotaract Club, and the Red Cross Humanitarian Network-NUS Chapter (RCHN-NUS). The Network is led by a Steering Committee, made up of the President and Vice-President of member groups, and a Chairman.

  2. What are the obectives of the Network?

The Network was formed to bring together volunteers, and provide a platform for various community service-related groups to share knowledge and resources, in the process enhancing the NUS volunteering experience.

    VISION
    Volunteer as One!

    MISSION
To enhance the NUS volunteering experience through sharing

    Broadly, the Network aims:

    • To encourage a greater level of volunteerism amongst undergraduates and foster a stronger volunteering spirit in NUS
    • To promote sharing of resources and expertise among member groups, so as to develop higher quality, more sustainable volunteering programmes
    • To develop and inspire our volunteers, and provide opportunities to those who want to make a difference to the community
  3. What are the projects and activities offered by the Network?

Through our member clubs, the Network offers a wide range of regular and ad-hoc activities for you to choose from. There are weekly regular volunteering programmes, special event-based projects, and overseas engagement programmes. In addition, fundraising and blood donation drives are conducted on campus each semester. For the full list of activities, please refer here.

As a Network, the NVN also organises joint training programmes, workshops and courses, recreational outings, as well as the annual NUS Volunteers’ Appreciation Dinner to provide the opportunity for volunteers from different clubs to bond and interact.

  4. How do I become a member of the Network?

When you become a member of any of the 4 clubs, you will automatically become a member of the NUS Volunteer Network and be kept informed about Network activities. Alternatively, if you just wish to join the NVN mailing list to be updated about the latest ad-hoc volunteering opportunities, please sign up here.

  5. What benefits do I stand to gain as a member of the Network?

As a member of the NUS Volunteer Network, you will:

    • Receive updates on the latest volunteering opportunities via our mailing list
    • Be exposed to a spectrum of over 40 events and activities organised each year by our member clubs
    • Have the privilege to participate in exclusive volunteer training programmes to enhance your personal development
    • Meet like-minded friends through joint activities and be part of our growing family
    • Be invited to the annual NUS Volunteers’ Appreciation Dinner
  6. Do I get points for on-campus residence when I become a member of the Network?

    Yes and No.

No, the Network acts as a platform to connect fellow students who are interested in community service, across clubs and societies. However, it is not a club and does not award points for on-campus residence.

Yes, when you participate in activities organised by member clubs under the Network, points will be awarded by the respective clubs. Points for each activity differ and you are encouraged to check with the Project I/C.

  7. How are the 4 clubs different and which should I join?

Being community service-related, student-driven volunteer groups, the 4 clubs share many similarities. That’s why we came together! :) However, each club is managed independently and adopts different projects and beneficiaries.

You may find out more about the specific projects here:

    • NUS Students’ Union Volunteer Action Committee (NVAC)
    • NUS Students’ Community Service Club (CSC)
    • NUS Rotaract Club
    • Red Cross Humanitarian Network-NUS Chapter (RCHN-NUS)
    • Be invited to the annual NUS Volunteers’ Appreciation Dinner
  8. Can I join more than one member group or activity under the Network?

Yes, definitely. The Network was formed to provide opportunities for greater inter-mingling among volunteers. We understand that volunteers like you and me have a lot of demands to juggle, academic and otherwise. Thus, the diverse range of volunteering activities will allow you to customise and choose what you want to participate in, acccording to your interests and preferred level of commitment.

  9. How can I contribute to the Network?

Of course, cash donations are most welcome. :P Nah, we just hope that you will introduce more friends to participate in our events and activities. Essentially, we believe that each one of us has something to give to the larger society, especially to those who might be less fortunate than ourselves. Through the Network, we hope to inspire and enable more NUS undergraduates to make this positive contribution in their own unique way, so the world may be a better place for all of us.
