hnf1. Home Nursing Foundation Annual Seniors Nite Dinner
Date: 23 Feb 2010 (Tue)
Time: 6.30pm onwards
Description:
Every year, the Home Nursing Foundation invites 1500 elderly folks from the different old folks homes for a time of dinner and performances. The CNY dinner this year will be held at the Singapore Expo, and NUS Volunteer Network Alumni is supporting the event as volunteers. We are looking for 20-30 volunteers on that night to join us to receive the elderly folks, bring them to the tables and escort them back to the buses. You do not need prior medical knowledge as staff and caregivers will be accompanying them.

napiri2. MINDSville @ Napiri Orientation Visit
Date: 13 Mar 2010 (Sat)
Time: 2.30-5pm
Description:

Situated at Lorong Napiri, MINDSville@Napiri is one of the residential homes run by the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS) to cater to the needs of the intellectually disabled. The home aims to maximize the potential of intellectually disabled persons by helping them to live as independent a life as possible. Every Saturday, volunteers gather at MINDSville to interact with the residents of the home and work with fellow volunteers from MINDS Youth Group to help the residents develop motor skills and independent living skills through a range of enriching activities such as art and craft, music, exercise and food preparation. Special events to celebrate festivals such as Chinese New Year, Christmas and Mid-Autumn Festival, and various outings are organised as well.

overseas3. Overseas Community Expedition to Cambodia
Date: 5-14 Sep 2010
Cost: $600-800 per pax
Description: The NVN Alumni's very first overseas community service trip will be a collaboration with YMCA of Singapore, where 20 NUS alumni will teach English and plan activities for kids at a tuition centre in Cambodia. YMCA will conduct the recce for the trip and provide the team leader, while NUS alumni volunteers will undertake fundraising activities in preparation for the trip and embark on the trip itself. Through this partnership with YMCA, it is hoped that positive, sustained impact can be created for the local community.
